Just as students have rights, they also have responsibilities. As members of the state of California community, University of California, Irvine expects its students to be responsible citizens of the campus, local, and global community. In the event a situation, or conflict, arises in which there is an allegation the University of California Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations, and Students has been violated, the Student Conduct process will be administered to discuss the implications of the event. University of California, Irvine recognizes its responsibility to support and uphold the basic freedoms and citizenship rights of all students, and it expects students to be responsible for the policies, as we hold our students accountable for their behavior both on and off campus.
The purpose of the Student Conduct Process is to safeguard and address issues in the university community and provide an educational and developmental experience for the student. The university disciplinary procedures are independent of any legal proceedings, and they are not conducted in a manner intended to be held in, or resemble, a court of law.
