Our Mission

The Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct is responsible for ensuring that students comply with and understand university policies related to academic integrity and student conduct by promoting student learning and development.

Staff

Kim Burdett, Ph.D.

Director of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct

Dr. Burdett joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in September of 2018. As Director, Dr. Burdett oversees all aspect of the office and serves as a liaison with other campus departments. Over her time at UCI, Dr. Burdett has worked closely with a wide variety of students from prospective students, first-year students, transfer students, continuing students, as well as graduate students and students in professional school, including their partners and families, and understands the unique challenges faced by each group. Additionally, Dr. Burdett is an advocate for student learning both inside and outside of the classroom.

Dr. Burdett received her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Higher Education from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She earned her Master's degree in Counseling with a specialization in Student Development in Higher Education from California State University, Long Beach, and her Bachelor's degree in Social Ecology with an emphasis in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to this position, Dr. Burdett has served as the Director of Verano Place Housing and the Director of Campus Village Housing, as well as other positions in Student Housing and Conference Services.

Christopher Coronel, M.A.

Associate Director of Student Conduct 

Christopher joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct team in May of 2016. As a Student Conduct Officer, he meets with students to resolve allegations of campus policy violations.

Christopher worked with UCI Student Housing for nine years, serving students in different roles. His most recent position was as a Residence Life Coordinator in Mesa Court. There, he supervised the Resident Advisors and adjudicated allegations of Student Housing Policy violations.

Christopher received his Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine. After graduating and spending a few years on campus, Christopher went back to school and received a Master's degree in Higher Education from Boston College.

Anh Pham, M.Ed.

Policy Analyst

Anh joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in October of 2019. As the Policy Analyst, Anh manages SVSH, SCRB, and AIRB cases, as well as policy and project developments within the office.

Prior to coming to UCI, Anh was a Student Conduct Coordinator at UC Riverside for six years and adjudicated academic integrity and student conduct cases. In addition, he supported students through ethics workshops, personal development sanctioning, and leading campus-wide alcohol, tobacco, and other drug initiatives with faculty, staff, and students. He enjoys being able to help students navigate through difficult situations and overcoming obstacles to achieve their goals.

Anh earned his Bachelor's degree in Public Policy and Master's degree in Higher Education Administration and Policy from UC Riverside.

Christopher Frank, J.D.

Interim Associate Director for Academic Integrity

Christopher joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in May of 2020.  As an Academic Integrity and Student Conduct Officer, Christopher meets with students to resolve allegations from all categories of campus policy violations.

Christopher received his Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he majored in Human Resources and minored in Psychology.  He then went on to law school where he earned his J.D. from Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Additionally, Christopher has passed the Indiana State Bar Exam and is licensed to practice law.  

Christopher previously worked at Indiana University as an Assistant Director of Student Conduct.  He enjoys trying to make students feel better than they did prior to meeting with him by empowering them through education, empathy, and care.

Christina Suarez, M.Ed.

Academic Integrity & Student Conduct Officer

Christina joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in July 2020. As an Academic Integrity and Student Conduct Officer, Christina meets with students to resolve allegations of campus policy violations.

Christina received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an Emphasis in Law and Criminal Behavior from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California. She then attended Seattle University in Seattle, Washington where she received her master’s degree in Student Development Administration and worked in Housing and Residence Life.

Christina centers her work around four principles; care, accountability, reflection, and education. She strives to provide care and support to others, emphasizes the importance of accountability, engages people in reflection and provides education to students that aid in their continued growth and development.

Michelle Moran, M.Ed.

Academic Integrity & Student Conduct Officer

Michelle joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in January 2021. As an Academic Integrity and Student Conduct Officer, she meets with students to resolve allegations of campus policy violations.

Michelle received her bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology from Mercer University in Macon, GA. She then attended the University of Georgia in Athens, GA where she earned her master’s degree in College Student Affairs Administration while working as a Graduate Assistant in the Housing department.

Prior to joining UC Irvine, Michelle worked as a Conduct Coordinator at UC Riverside for three years. She is honored to work with students at UCI and hopes to build positive relationships while promoting student learning and development.

Daisy Ruiz, B.A.

Academic Integrity & Student Conduct Officer

Daisy joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in January 2021. As an Academic Integrity and Student Conduct Officer, she meets with students to resolve allegations of campus policy violations.

Daisy received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice with a concentration in Homeland security from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Lowell, Massachusetts. She is currently attending the University of California, Riverside where she will earn her Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration and Policy.

Prior to joining UC Irvine Daisy, worked at UMass Lowell as a Student Conduct investigator for two years. She enjoys being able to help students navigate through difficult situations and overcoming obstacles to achieve their goals.

Michael Mencer, B.A.

Academic Integrity & Student Conduct Officer

Michael joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in January of 2019 as the office’s Administrative Specialist. In this role, Michael oversaw the Digital Millennial Copyright Act (DMCA) and Dean’s Certification (Disciplinary Clearance) process for the office. He also processed students’ requests for an appeal to the Academic Integrity Review Board. Currently, Michael is an Interim Academic Integrity and Student Conduct Officer where he meets with students to resolve allegations of campus policy violations.

Michael previously worked at the University of San Francisco's Student Housing department for three years. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Psychology, he spent the following 5 years as a Substance Abuse Counselor assisting individuals on their road to recovery and titration.

Michael is currently attending the California State University, Fullerton where he will earn his Masters of Science in Higher Education.

Amber Lovell, M.Ed., NCC

Academic Integrity & Student Conduct Officer

Amber joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in January 2022. As an Academic Integrity and Student Conduct Officer, she meets with students to resolve allegations of campus policy violations.

Amber received her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Psychology from UCLA. She then attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC where she earned her master’s degree in College Counseling & Student Development while working as a Graduate Assistant in the Career Development Center.

As a nationally certified counselor, Amber strives to utilize her counseling skills to provide a safe space for students to learn and grow. She sees her role as a conduct officer as an opportunity to help students obtain the support needed to learn ethical decision-making while in college and throughout their professional careers.

Alex Mendoza, B.B.A.

Project Policy Analyst

Alex joined the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct in January 2022. As the Project Policy Analyst, he supports the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct with scheduling meetings to resolve allegations of campus policy violations, as well overseeing the Digital Millennial Copyright Act (DMCA) and Dean’s Certification (Disciplinary Clearance) processes for the office. He also serves as the first resource for students, faculty, staff, and community members engaging with OAISC.

Alex received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Organization & Management and Marketing from the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine. He plans on returning to complete a Master of Business Administration program in the near future.

Prior to joining UC Irvine, Alex worked as an Account Manager at Samsung Electronics for two years. He feels privileged to be able to assist students in their pursuit for growth, whether it be personal or professional, through reflection, action, and commitment.
